Hand-made Classical and Steel String Acoustic Guitars
Boone guitars are made by hand, one at a time, in Bozeman Montana. I use fine quality materials in every guitar
I make. Each build is divided into construction and finishing stages.
The construction happens at a steady pace from start to finish with
no delays from one sequence to the next. The finish takes more time
than the construction but most of that time is spent waiting for
the finishing materials to dry. The finish can take a month
to cure before the final buff and rushing this process can cause failure of the finish.
All parts of the guitar are shaped by me. Nothing
is pre-fabricated on a Boone guitar except for the tuners. I use
a combination of hand tools, including
my own little finger-plane which can be purchased, and power tools with all the final shaping
done by hand. I carve the neck with chisels, knives, rasps, and a
spoke shave. The rosette is my design and created from a simple idea
implemented in a complicated way. I am proud of the craftsmanship
in my guitars but each one may contain “beauty
marks” from
the hand building process. I strive for perfection but I am not a
CNC machine.
I think of my guitars as works of art that are tools for artists. I take a lot of time in shaping the "voice" of the materials used to create the most responsive guitar I can. I look forward to working with you to create a guitar that meets your needs - whether it be a smaller scale for smaller hands, or something else special just for you.
